Although it's often painted as the drab cousin of leadership, management is crucial to bringing a leader's vision to life. I see management as facilitation - making sure that the people doing the truly important, front-line work of the organization have the support and tools they need to thrive. Strong management results in trust, communication, innovation, and creativity. It is the most important factor in creating the job satisfaction that is so essential to retaining good staff.
